Life is valuable!!

I saw the video named, 'Spring' in the writing class. That video was about one adult monk, and one boy monk. A boy monk winded a string around a fish which was tied to a small rock and the fish died because of him. Also, he winded string around a frog but it survived. Lastly, he winded string around a snake and it died . When he saw that all animals died except the frog because of him, he had to live with a huge rock in his mind. I think this video gives us a lesson about lives, and killing.
(The man in the left picture is the man who make this video.)

I had a similar experience with him because I felt sad when flowers or other plants were picked by somebody. I felt sorry for them because they didn't do anything wrong, but they died because of people. When my friends found insects and put them in bottles or some cases, I usually stop them because I think it is very cruel. Also, I think we have to value them as lives.

However, I sometimes do that things, too. Last month, my family went to Hawaii for a family trip. We spend a week there and on the fifth day, we went to the folk village of Indians. When we arrived at the village, we ate lunch first. We ate buffet at the restaurant but it was no tasty. So we only ate water and bread. When we came out of the restaurant, we filled our water bottles. And I hold one for minutes. Then, I found an ant. So I was curious to know whether ants could swim or not. So I sprayed water on it with my younger sister. We made a pool for it and made him swim. Safely, he escaped from that pool, but we kept spray water to it until our water bottles became empty. It was really fun. However, my mom scolded us about ants. She said that ants are living creatures so we have to understand how they feel. After I heard my mother's lesson, I was really uncomfortable because I made an ant painful. Also, I promised myself about stop to play with ants.
These are the picture of Hawaii. But I didn't really took this picture, these pictures are in google.

I had same experiences like the boy monk in the video named, 'spring'. I made an ant painful with a bottle of water. Also, after I did that, I felt sorry about it and my mind was not comfortable like that boy, who cried when he saw that a fish and a snake died because of him.

So I think a lesson that this video wants to give you is about life and killing. I think the main point is that the life is very precious in this world, even if it is a small and useless thing. We have to understand their feelings and try to respect them. Also, this video explains about killing lives are bad and not right. We must kill something, when we really needed because it is the worst thing in the world.

This is the whole video of 'Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Spring'.

Thank you for reading and seeing my writing~!!!

  2. Jeong Yoon,

Overall this is a good essay. You gave good examples and compared it to the lesson in the movie. The lesson is about the value of life as well as karma which means when we do something wrong there are consequences for our actions. Keep up the good work!
